Innovative Flat Rock Cellars specializes in crafting elegant Pinot Noir. This excellent wine is a great introduction, with its flavours of berry preserves, herbs, blood orange and watermelon. It works well with grilled salmon or with veal in a red wine reduction.

Inniskillin Pinot Noir VQA (1 Bottle x 750 mL)

This wine comes from the small 2021 harvest from vines averaging 35-40 years of age. It's aged on lees for six months in French oak, 10% of which is gently toasted new oak. Cave de Lugny, established in the late 1800s, is a cooperative of Burgundian grape growers producing red, white and sparkling wines. This is an uncompromisingly dark wine that plays to New Zealand's strengths in terms of purity and vivacity of fruit: raspberry, cherry and plum come streaming from the glass, and the fine meshing of fruit and oak in this wine adds to its lustre and appeal. In the mouth, the wine is both long and broad but not in any way clumsy, and the fruit flavours (raspberry to the fore again) are hypnotic. Svelte tannins are barely palpable, so there's no textural barrier to entry. Score - 97. (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2025)

Hidden Bench Estate Organic Pinot Noir 2021 (1 Bottle x 750 mL)

Founded in 1931, Vignerons de Buxy is a collective focused on producing top-flight Côte Chalonnaise wines. Their Buissonnier line comes from select vineyards. This Pinot is sourced from vines grown in pebbly, limestone-rich, calcareous soils and offers red fruit, forest floor, smoke, and a generous, food-friendly texture. It will cellar for 5-7 years from vintage and pair well with lamb or duck.
